What is Eid-ul-fitr and when it was celebrated?

Eid ul Fitr is the festival of joy celebrated mainly my Muslims across the globe. It is the festival of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Ramadan is the month of fasting by Muslims. Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated at the end of Ramzan.

Eid ul Fitr is likely to be occurred or celebrated after the 29th or 30th Ramadan depending upon the visibility of moon. What is Eid-ul-fitr namaz and its importance?

Eid ul Fitr namaz is performed in the morning after the Fajr namaz on the first day after Ramadan.

To perform the Eid-ul-fitr prayer, one must ensure the following steps:

  1. After making Waju, offer 2 rakat of Sunnah and 2 rakat of Farz in Fajr Namaz.

  2. Recite Quran (available on Amazon also) and understand it with meaning what you read in Quran.

  3. Take a proper well cleaned bath.

  4. Wear properly washed clothes and say Bishmillah before wearing it. It’s good if you can able to afford and wear new clothes on the Eid day and apply some fragrance smell like Attar.

  5. Before going for prayer, eat something like dates as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to do as the sunnah.

  6. Recite Takbeer while going for Eid-ul-Fitr namaz. The Takbir is as follows:

    اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ. وَاَللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ.

    “ Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, La ilaha illallah, Wallahu akbar, Allahu akbar wa lillahil hamd “

    “Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no god but Allah. And Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest and to Allah belongs all praise.”

  7. Try to go early in mosque on the day of Eid-Ul-Fitr and make Waju.

  8. All Muslim men’s should Offer Eid-ul-fitr namaz in the masjid.

  9. After Namaz greet one another with Salam and Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak.

  10. If you are financially good, you may offer a little amount of money to the poor and needy people to put the similes on their faces on the day of Eid.

Now, the importance of Eid-ul-Fitr Namaz are as follows:
  1. Namaz is the mandatory thing for all Muslims. Although Eid-ul-Fitr is a special namaz but it is also one of them since namaz is a way to directly connect a person with Almighty Allah.

  2. This Eid-ul-Fitr namaz also brings brotherhood and sisterhood among all Muslims across the globe.

  3. Like other namaz this Eid-ul-fitr is also a reminder that all persons are same as anyone can stand with anyone at any position (row) during the namaz. This shows that all persons are equal to Almighty Allah irrespective of poor or rich status.

  4. Eid-ul-Fitr namaz is a way to thanks Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity for completing the 29/30 days of fasting & Ibaadat in Ramazan.

  5. Eid-ul-Fitr namaz like other normal namaz provides an opportunity for asking success, happiness, good health and wealth from Almighty Allah.

What are the important duas on Eid-ul-Fitr day?

You can offer any dua on Eid-ul-Fitr day, below are some Duas you can recite:

  1. Dua before entering the mosque: “ Allaahum-maftah lee 'abwaaba rahmatika."

  2. Dua before leaving the mosque: “Allahumma inni Asaluka min Fadhlik.”

  3. Dua for before making Waju: “Bismillaah”

  4. Dua after making Waju: “Ash-hadu ‘an laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu wa ‘ash-hadu ‘anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasooluhu.”

  5. Dua for forgiveness: “Astaghfirullah rabbi min kulli zambiyon wa atoobu ilaiyh”

  6. Dua for good health: “Allahumma 'afini fi badani, Allahumma 'afini fi sam'i, Allahumma 'afini fi basari La ilaha illa anta”

  7. Dua for success: “Rabbana atina fid dunya hasanatan wa fil Aakhirati hasanatan waqina ‘azab an-nar”

  8. Dua to overcome from hard-time: “la ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin”

  9. Dua to overcome illness: “A’udhu bi’izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa ‘uhadhiru”

  10. Dua for happiness: “Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa fuja'ati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhatika.”

These are some duas you may recite. But if you want to recite more duas then you can recite the same as Inshallah all your duas will be accepted and listened by Almighty Allah.

What type of Gifts Muslims used to give to one-another on Eid-Ul-Fitr day?

Although you can gift anything as per your financial status. But some common gifts the Muslims used to give to one-another are as follows:

  1. Mostly elderly people used to give Eidi (an amount of money) to the younger people to enjoy the day of Eid.

  2. Most people used to gift products like new clothes, sewai (food), sweets and fruits.

  3. Some people are financially not good and unable to gift something but they used to pray Allah for someone’s life, health and success. And this should also be considered as a big gift. Money and products must not be always everything, if someone is remembering you in their duas then that is the biggest gift.
